So recently Sarah Kassimer posted a picture and wrote about adding apple cider vinegar to her daily routine.
Seeing the picture she posted with that dang bottle brought me back to 2008- just graduated from college, living in DC and for some reason or another, drinking apple cider vinegar (and hating it). Fast-forward 7 years later- seeing Sarah’s post made me wonder a.) why I drank it back in the day and b.) why I’m not drinking it now. Like, isn’t it suppose to be good for you or something?
So, I did what I do best and did some research on apple cider vinegar.
Needless to say, there are actually a LOT of reasons (and ways) to use apple cider vinegar. Here are my favorites, and the ones that will probably be most beneficial:
- As a drink it can help with a wide range of ailments. Mix 1 TBSP in 8 oz of warm water to help detoxify the liver, clear out sinuses, works as a digestive aid and an energy boost.
- Non-toxic weed killer: Just mix 1/2 gallon apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup salt, and 1/2 teaspoon dish soap
- Odor neutralizer: like, for anything. As a deodorant (apply directly under your arms), mouthwash (gargle with it), as a spray, put acv on a cotton ball and wipe your feet down…you name it. ACV helps balance the pH in your body, kill germs, etc…so all of these solutions make total sense.
- Non-toxic cleaner: mix equal parts water and ACV in a spray bottle, as a hair rinse, or to help clear up and prevent breakouts (again, because it has antibacterial properties and helps balance pH)
I have since picked up a bottle of apple cider vinegar. When you go to get yours, make sure it has the “mother” strand (it’ll say it right on the label)
